Acknowledgement to Country

I live and work on Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) Country land that was never ceded, never surrendered, and never forgotten.

I acknowledge the Kabi Kabi nation as the Traditional Custodians of this land, waters, skies and pay my respects to Elders past, present and future.

I pay deep respect to the Medicine and Lore women, through whose sacred knowledge has been passed down and carried through women's business for thousands of years, and who continue to hold the blueprint for how to rebuild the village.

I acknowledge the systematic oppression, attempted genocide, dispossession, the Stolen Generations, and the destruction of sacred sites, culture and language in an attempt to silence Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the last 237 years.

I acknowledge and hold myself accountable for how my own white privilege, silence and profession have perpetuated this trauma. I am learning what it means to deeply listen.

I hold with humility, gratitude, and deep commitment to listen and walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in reconciliation and through the Lore of reciprocity
